The division of labor within a capitalist economic system is the most fair and ethical way to distribute goods and services. There has never been a more equitable distribution of goods and services throughout History, save mana from heaven, and the feeding of the five thousand. These were of course miraculous events.
The capitalist economy with a stable monetary system has proven to be a Godsend when civil government respects the 3 pillars of Freedom: Life, Liberty, and Private Property Rights. The most overlooked part of an efficient capitalist economy today is stable money. Without stable money, which is our most marketable commodity, today’s sophisticated division of labor would not exist. The introduction of money was what really allowed civilization to not only happen, but to thrive. It lead to a far more efficient and sophisticated division of labor. It put an end to the less efficient bartering system. You caught a few fish and I grew corn. We trade. We both now have corn and fish.
With the advent of agriculture, people settled down and the division of labor was able to become more sophisticated. Trade really took off.
Fast forward to today. Christian ethics, voluntary exchange, specialization, freedom of association and adherence to contracts have all been integral parts of Western Civilization. These have lead to increased efficiency in the transfer of goods and services alongside a decrease in production costs, and lower prices. Through our jobs, by individual specializations, we utilize our own strengths to provide goods and services to others in exchange for money. The employer, employee and customer all benefit. Everyone within the division of labor has an individual skill set being utilized. We have near infinite product choices today because of the division of labor. This is what freedom has allowed.
Freedom is manifested in today’s internet. This is what our site should represent. An intellectual division of labor. The free exchange of intellectual goods and services between us to our children. We all have specialties.
Utilizing today’s computer, video and information sharing technologies, we can demonstrate a valuable lesson to our children. The importance of a real free market in information, and demonstration of the division of labor. We as fathers further develop our skill sets, and our children will have access to the intellectual division of labor among our stay at home and homeschool dads.
